Free llms.txt generator: create yours in seconds
Enter your website to generate an llms.txt file: a Markdown map of your site that tells AI assistants what you do and which pages matter. It reads your homepage and sitemap, so there's nothing to fill in. Free, no sign-up.
How does the llms.txt generator work?
- It reads your homepage for your site's name and description.
- It collects the pages your homepage links to, plus pages from your sitemap.xml, and skips login, cart, search and tag pages.
- It reads up to 30 pages for their titles and meta descriptions.
- It groups them into sections (main pages, then sections like Blog or Docs, with legal pages under Optional) in the llmstxt.org format.
What should I edit before publishing it?
- The summary line (the one starting with
>): make it the one sentence you'd want an AI to repeat about you. - Key facts: add a few bullets under the summary: what you do, who it's for, notable numbers.
- Page list: remove pages that don't help someone understand you, and add any important page the generator missed.
Then save it as llms.txt at the root of your site (yoursite.com/llms.txt), served as plain text. Read the full llms.txt guide.
FAQ
- What is llms.txt?
- llms.txt is a plain-text Markdown file at the root of a website (yoursite.com/llms.txt) that tells large language models what the site is about and links to its most useful pages. It was proposed in 2024 at llmstxt.org as an LLM-friendly companion to robots.txt and sitemap.xml.
- Do AI assistants actually read llms.txt?
- Support varies and isn't guaranteed. It's a small, low-risk file that gives any model or AI agent that reads it an accurate, curated summary of your site.
- Is this llms.txt generator free?
- Yes. It's free with no sign-up, up to 10 sites a day.
- Why are some of my pages missing?
- The generator reads up to 30 pages, starting with the ones your homepage links to. Pages behind a login, pages that block bots, and pages without a title are skipped. Add any missing pages by hand before you publish.
- Where do I put the file?
- At the root of your domain, so it loads at https://yoursite.com/llms.txt as plain text. On most website builders, you upload it as a file or add it in the SEO or custom code settings.
